Notes on the Bob Dylan in the UK map

Curated by

Bibliography - online
Dylan fan Steve Heath researched much of the content for this map. We'd like to extend a huge thanks to Steve for his time, input and patience. Steve is a member of UK Dylan tribute act, The Bob Dylan Experience - do check them out!

We used a number of online sources as part of our research:

Bibliography - offline
As well as web-based sources, we also used a number of books as part of our research, including in no particular order:

Music Heritage UK - content
We also made the most of Music Heritage UK created online content, including:

Images
Most images come from a variety of creative common sources (including Wikipedia and related sites, Flickr) and are linked to at the bottom of each entry. Music Heritage UK is a charity and all images are included for historical/educational/cultural purposes only. Every effort was made to find the original owners.

In addition to the above we sourced poster and ticket scans from the excellent DylanStubs website. These are included for informative/educational purposes only. If you're a fan we'd recommend searching their extensive archive of tickets, posters, setlists and photographs.

If you are the image rights holder, and would like your content removed, please email us here and we'll look into it and take down the offending item.

Platforms
Our maps currently use the Carto platform (formerly "CartoDB") as it has given us the best in terms of flexibility and presentation. The images are hosted externally on Ultra IMG. For more on why we chose these services, their limitations, and our next steps in terms of adding extra functionality, please see our blog post around our Stones in London map which summarised our findings from working on our first map.

Proud to use the  platform.

Mistakes? Additions? Ideas? Future themes?

Before you ask... please bear in mind we're on version one of our map platform, and we currently can't embed content from YouTube, Spotify or elsewhere! We're working on bringing this functionality to our maps in the future.

However, please do get in touch with us if there's something else we've missed, got wrong or simply forgot about! We'd love to hear from you!

If you like what we've done, and want to support our work on future music maps and adding new functionality to them, please donate to Music Heritage UK now! Your gift will go a long way in helping us to release more music maps!
